A Savannah cat is a hybrid of African Serval and a domestic cat. Savannahs are distinguished by their late physical and slender and their large ears. This is one of the newest breeds in the world, and only a few breeders have successfully coupling a Serval to a domestic cat.
All foundation Savannahs are referenced by an F and a number indicating the number of generations separating them from their ancestor serval. • F1 (~ 53% serval) • F2 (~ 29% serval) • F3 (~ 16% serval) etc.
Servals are wild cats that require special enclosures, diet and special care. Having purebred servals and couple them with domestic cats is expensive, difficult and requires much time.
